Taiwan-Lantern is the trading name of Ju Ju Trading V.O.F. All intellectual property rights to the website, including the text, design, graphics, and the Taiwan-Lantern logo, belong to Ju Ju Trading VOF. By making a purchase from Taiwan-Lantern, you are required to agree to these terms and conditions.
Terms & Conditions for private buyers
1. Definitions
In these terms and conditions, the words and expressions have the following meanings:

2. Applicability
This specific set of terms and conditions applies only when Taiwan-Lantern engages in business with consumers, more specifically people not acting in the course of a profession and/or business. If you are a not a consumer but a person not acting in the course of a profession and/or business, different terms and conditions apply.
3. Orders
3.1 All orders by consumers placed with us are subject to acceptance of these conditions.
3.2 When making a purchase, you will receive a pro forma invoice summarizing your order. It is your responsibility to review and confirm that all order details are accurate and conform to your wishes.
3.3 We reserve the right to remove or edit any products or content from the website. We may also decline to process orders or refuse service for any reason at our discretion.
3.4 We will not be held liable for withdrawing a product from the Website, editing or removing content.
3.5 To make a purchase and enter into contracts under Dutch law, you must be at least 18 years old, and provide your real name, phone number, email address, and a valid delivery address.
4. Products
4.1 The images and descriptions of the products on our website or in our catalogs are intended for illustrative purposes. We have made an effort to accurately display the colors, but we cannot guarantee that a device's screen will show the colors accurately. Your product may differ slightly from the images shown. All measurements are approximately given.
4.2 Our products are made by hand from 95% natural materials such as wood, stone, leather, plant-dyed fabrics, and bamboo and can vary in color, grain, and texture. We cannot guarantee that the products you receive will look exactly like the displayed product, website, or catalog image. We are not responsible for these variations as they add to the uniqueness of our products.
4.3 Our products are delicate and you should avoid exposing them to heat, direct sunlight, and other harmful elements as the exposure may cause them to tarnish, colors to fade, or other damage.
4.4 If you purchase the same products, whether in the same order or not, we cannot guarantee that the products supplied will be from the same batch and be an exact color match.
5. Price and Payment
5.1 All prices displayed on the Website are in Euro (EUR) and include Dutch VAT. If the customer and/or the delivery address is not located within the Netherlands, different VAT rates may apply. Shipping costs are not included and will be added to your order.
5.2 We only accept bank transfers as a form of payment. Production on your order is only started once payment has been received in full. The payment must be completed within fourteen days, counted from and including the day on which the contract was signed by both you and us. If payment has not been received after this time, the order will be canceled.
5.3 For international transactions, the customer is responsible for any additional transaction fees.
5.4 Prices are accurate at the time of writing but may change due to administrative errors or circumstances beyond our control. After a quote/pro forma invoice you have received from us has expired, we can no longer guarantee the prices in the quote/pro forma invoice.
6. Shipping and Delivery
6.1 Our products can be shipped worldwide from our office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
6.2 Orders delivered to destinations outside the European Union may be subject to duties and taxes. These charges vary per country and are the responsibility of the customer. We recommend checking with your local customs office for more information.
6.3 We cannot be held responsible for any delays in installation caused by late or failed delivery. The delivery lead time stated in the pro forma invoice is an estimate and provided in good faith.
7. Returns and Cancellations
7.1 Due to the made-to-order or customized nature of our products, we are unable to accept returns or offer exchanges.
7.2 If you need to change or cancel your order, you must contact us within 48 hours of the order being placed. No changes or cancellations will be accepted after this time frame. Rush orders cannot be canceled or changed.
8. Warranty and Defects
8.1 We provide a one-year warranty for our products against material and workmanship defects under normal use from the date of purchase.
8.2 To be eligible for warranty coverage, you must submit a written claim to us within 2 days of the defect occurring. Your claim should include a description of the defect and relevant documentation such as the order number and photos of the defect.
8.3 We reserve the right to inspect the damaged product before fulfilling any obligation under this warranty. The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for the inspection. If the damaged product is indeed deemed to fall under warranty, the shipping costs will be reimbursed to the customer.
8.4 If the product is found to be defective, we will either repair or replace it. The warranty will only apply if the product has been handled and used as instructed – as explained under ‘11. Care Guide for Our Products’
8.5 This warranty excludes:
-- Normal wear and tear
-- Damage from using the lantern outside
-- Damage from incorrect cleaning methods
-- Damage from improper installation or assembly, or installation by a non-certified electrician
-- Damage from improper light bulb use
-- Damage from exposure to weather or improper environmental conditions
-- Changes in the appearance of hand-made or finishes. The lanterns are meant to age in appearance
-- Installation removal, or re-installation costs
-- Restoration or repair work
-- Any parts purchased separate from our product
9. Damages
9.1 Upon delivery, please carefully inspect the products for any possible defects. Any defects or damages must be reported to us within 48 hours of receiving the delivery. Please keep all packaging as proof. Failure to do so may invalidate any claims.
9.2 We need to investigate your claim before processing a return for the damaged goods. Therefore, while your claim is being investigated, we kindly ask that you take good care of the products. Please refrain from carrying out any work on the products before we inspect them. Failure to do so may invalidate any claims. Please also do not return any products that you believe may be defective until you receive our agreement.
9.3 We recommend that you obtain proof of posting for your records, and if the products are of high value, you may wish to consider taking out insurance to protect the products whilst in transit as it or they are your responsibility until we receive them. In the case you are sending back products, please note that the products are your responsibility whilst in transit until we receive them. We recommend that you obtain proof of posting for your records. We also recommend taking out insurance.
10. Liability
10.1 We will not be held responsible for any indirect or consequential loss or damage, including but not limited to loss of profit, operating loss, loss of goodwill, and loss of any contract.
10.2 Our total liability under or in connection with any purchase order shall not exceed the price paid by you to Us for the product or service applicable to your claim, except for situations in which our liability unless our liability results from willful misconduct and gross negligence.
11. Care Guide for Our Products
11.1 Our products are intended for use in indoor settings only.
11.2 We recommend using light bulbs that do not exceed 40 Watts. LED bulbs are particularly recommended as they generate minimal heat.
11.3 To preserve the color of the lanterns, avoid exposing the product to direct sunlight and sources of heat.
11.4 To clean the lanterns, gently dust them with a duster or soft rag in a vertical motion from top to bottom. Avoid using any chemical cleaning products on the lanterns.
12. Limited License and Restrictions
12.1 The material and content found on the Website are only for personal and non-commercial use. You may download this material and content for the sole purpose of using the website on a personal computer.
12.2 Any other use of the material and content from the website is strictly prohibited. It is not allowed to copy, reproduce, transmit, modify, publish, display, distribute, commercially exploit, or create derivative works of the material and/or content without our written permission. These actions violate our intellectual property rights.
13. Data Protection and Privacy
We respect the privacy of your personal information and comply with all relevant data protection laws. In order to fulfill your order, we need to process and store your data and share it with third parties involved in your order, such as our couriers. By placing an order with us, you agree to allow us and our couriers to process your data.
14. Amendments to these Terms & Conditions
We reserve the right to modify these Conditions at any time. Any changes will be effective when they are posted on the Website. It is your responsibility to read the Conditions whenever You use the Website. By continuing to use the Website, You indicate your acceptance of the most recent terms and conditions.
15. Ownership and Responsibility
A product will be your responsibility from the time We deliver the product to your address or you or a carrier organized by you collect it from Us. Ownership of the products in your order transfer to you only from the moment you have paid for your order in full.

1. Definitions
In these terms and conditions, the words and expressions have the following meanings:

-- ‘Seller’ refers to Taiwan Lantern, a trading name of JuJu Trading V.O.F., registered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (KvK: 82173311, VAT: NL862364395B01).
-- ‘Buyer’ refers to a person or company acting in the course of a trade or business placing an order with the Seller.
-- ‘PI’ refers to the Proforma Invoice issued by the Seller summarising the order details.
-- ‘Products’ refers to any products offered for sale by Taiwan Lantern.
-- ‘Website’ refers to taiwan-lantern.com.
-- ‘ETD’ refers to the Estimated Time of Departure as stated on the PI.
2. Applicability
2.1 These GTCs apply exclusively to orders placed by business buyers acting in the course of a trade or profession. If you are a consumer (i.e. not acting in the course of a trade or business), separate terms and conditions apply, available upon request or on the Website.
2.2 These GTCs apply to all orders placed with the Seller, whether through the Website, by email, or any other means, and supersede any terms the Buyer may seek to impose.
2.3 To place an order, the Buyer must be at least 18 years old and provide their full name, company name, phone number, website, email, billing and shipment address, and a valid VAT or tax registration number.
2.4 By placing an order, accepting a PI, or making payment, the Buyer acknowledges having read and accepted these GTCs.
3. Orders and Acceptance
3.1 All orders are subject to acceptance by the Seller, who reserves the right to reject, modify, or cancel any order at its sole discretion. If the Seller is unable to fulfil an order, the Buyer will be notified promptly.
3.2 The Buyer will receive a PI summarising all order details and is solely responsible for verifying their accuracy prior to acceptance.
3.3 Confirmation or payment of the PI constitutes acceptance of the order and these GTCs in full.
3.4 The Seller reserves the right to withdraw or modify any product or content on the Website at any time without notice and shall not be liable for doing so.
4. Products
4.1 Images and descriptions on the Website or in catalogues are for illustrative purposes only. Every effort is made to display colours accurately, but the Seller cannot guarantee exact colour reproduction on individual screens. All measurements are approximate.
4.2 Products are handmade from natural materials. Variations in colour, grain, texture, and finish are inherent to the nature of the materials and are not considered defects. The Seller cannot guarantee an exact match to displayed images or between batches. Such variations shall not constitute grounds for rejection, return, replacement, or compensation.
4.3 Products are delicate and should be kept away from heat, direct sunlight, and other harmful elements, which may cause discolouration or damage.
4.4 The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the Products comply with all applicable local regulations, including electrical installation requirements.
5. Prices and Quotations
5.1 All prices are in Euro (EUR), exclusive of VAT, duties, taxes, transport, and assembly costs. The Buyer is responsible for all applicable taxes and levies in their country of delivery.
5.2 Quotations are valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issuance unless otherwise stated. After expiry, the Seller cannot guarantee quoted prices.
6. Terms of Payment
6.1 Full payment by bank transfer is required within fourteen (14) days of the date the PI is sent toa the Buyer. Payment is deemed received when cleared funds are credited to the Seller’s account, from which date production commences and the ETD is calculated.
6.2 The Buyer is responsible for all bank transaction fees. The Seller must receive the full invoice amount in cleared funds; any shortfall due to bank charges will be treated as outstanding payment.
7. Delivery
7.1 The ETD stated on the PI is indicative and calculated from the date cleared payment is received. The Seller will notify the Buyer promptly of any delay and provide a revised date.
7.2 The Seller reserves the right to make partial deliveries. Delivery costs per shipment will be communicated to the Buyer in advance.
7.3 Products are shipped from the Seller’s designated dispatch location. Orders may be subject to import duties and taxes upon delivery, which are the sole responsibility of the Buyer. The Seller recommends checking with local customs authorities for further information.
7.4 If delivery cannot be completed due to access restrictions at the Buyer’s premises, the Buyer remains liable for all delivery and redelivery charges.
7.5 The Seller is not responsible for any delays in installation caused by late or failed delivery. The Buyer is advised to allow adequate lead time when planning installation schedules.
8. Retention of Title and Risk
8.1 All Products remain the property of the Seller until full payment has been received in cleared funds.
8.2 Where the Seller arranges shipping, risk of loss or damage passes upon delivery to the Buyer. Where the Buyer arranges shipping, risk passes upon handover to the carrier.
9. Returns and Cancellations
9.1 Cancellations or changes must be requested by email within forty-eight (48) hours of PI confirmation. Rush orders cannot be cancelled or changed under any circumstances.
9.2 Due to the made-to-order nature of the Products, returns and exchanges are not accepted once production has commenced.
10. Inspection and Claims
10.1 The Buyer must inspect all Products upon delivery and note any reservation on the delivery document at the time of receipt. Please retain all original packaging as proof.
10.2 Claims for shortages, defects, or damage must be submitted in writing with photographic documentation within five (5) calendar days of delivery.
10.3 The Buyer must not carry out any work on disputed Products before the Seller has had the opportunity to inspect them. Products must not be returned without the Seller’s prior written agreement.
10.4 Late or incomplete claims, or claims where no reservation was noted on the delivery document, will not be accepted.
10.5 In the event the Seller agrees to accept a return, the Buyer must provide photos of both the interior and exterior of the box before and after packing. The Product must be returned in its original packaging, securely packed to prevent damage in transit. Return shipping costs are at the Buyer’s expense unless the return is due to a confirmed defect.
10.6 Products shall be deemed accepted if no claim is made within the period specified in clause 10.2.
11. Warranty
11.1 Taiwan Lantern provides a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of delivery.
11.2 To make a warranty claim, the Buyer must submit a written request with photos, order details, and a description of the defect within seven (7) days of the defect being discovered.
11.3 The Seller reserves the right to inspect the Product before fulfilling any warranty obligation. If return is required, the Buyer must provide photos of both the interior and exterior of the box before and after packing, and ensure the Product is securely packaged, at the Buyer’s shipping expense. The warranty obligation applies only to Products received in an inspectable condition.
11.4 At the Seller’s sole discretion, the remedy under this warranty shall be limited to repair, replacement, or refund of the defective Product.
11.5 The warranty excludes:
-- Normal wear and tear
-- Non-compliance with assembly, use, or care instructions
-- Exposure to sunlight, heat, weather, or improper environments
-- Improper light bulb use
-- Natural aging or patina of hand-finished surfaces
-- Damage from improper installation or by a non-qualified electrician
-- Installation, removal, or repair costs
11.6 The warranty is void upon any unauthorised alteration or repair.
12. Care Guide
12.1 Products are intended for indoor use only.
12.2 Use light bulbs not exceeding 40 Watts. LED bulbs are recommended as they generate minimal heat.
12.3 To preserve colour, avoid exposing Products to direct sunlight or heat sources.
12.4 To clean, gently dust with a soft cloth in a vertical motion from top to bottom. Do not use chemical cleaning products.
12.5 All electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with local wiring and building regulations. The Seller accepts no liability for damage arising from improper installation.
13. Intellectual Property
13.1 All designs, drawings, specifications, images, and other intellectual property relating to Taiwan Lantern’s Products remain the exclusive property of the Seller.
13.2 No IP rights are transferred to the Buyer by virtue of purchasing the Products. The Buyer may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or exploit any of the Seller’s intellectual property without prior written consent.
13.3 For bespoke or custom orders, all intellectual property in the resulting design vests in the Seller unless otherwise agreed in writing.
14. Limitation of Liability
14.1 The Seller’s liability is limited to the replacement of defective Products or a refund of the purchase price of the affected goods. In no event shall the Seller’s aggregate liability exceed the amount actually paid by the Buyer for the Products giving rise to the claim.
14.2 The Seller is not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or special damages, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of goodwill, or loss of contract.
14.3 Nothing in these GTCs excludes or limits the Seller’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
15. Force Majeure
15.1 The Seller shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, governmental actions, or supply chain disruptions.
15.2 The Seller will notify the Buyer promptly of any such event and will make reasonable efforts to resume performance as soon as possible.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
16.1 These GTCs are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) shall not apply.
16.2 Any disputes shall first be referred to good-faith negotiation between the parties. If unresolved within thirty (30) days, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amsterdam (Rechtbank Amsterdam).
17. Amendments
17.1 The Seller reserves the right to modify these GTCs at any time. Updated versions will be published on the Website.
17.2 Changes apply to future orders only. The version in force at the time of PI confirmation governs that specific order.
18. General
18.1 Severability: If any provision of these GTCs is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
18.2 Entire Agreement: These GTCs constitute the entire agreement between the parties regarding the sale of Products and supersede all prior oral or written agreements.
18.3 No Partnership: Nothing in these GTCs creates a partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between the parties.
18.4 Waiver: Failure by either party to enforce any provision of these GTCs shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
